STRTP as Part of an Integrated Trauma-Informed System – Live Webinar

This three-hour webinar will first begin with reviewing the biological basis of stress and trauma of youth who are in foster care. Participants will understand the behavioral effects of trauma as they consider placement for youth in a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). This training will cover different trauma-informed approaches starting from entry, during care, and exiting a STRTP to assist in successful outcomes for youth. 


This training is being presented by Dr. Loc H. Nguyen. He has 36 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, refugees, and those affected by disasters. Dr. Nguyen is currently the Child Welfare Policy Consultant for the County Welfare Directors Association of CA (CWDA), specializing in the Continuum of Care Reform (CCR) and Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) issues. He previously served as the Child Welfare Director of San Mateo County for more than 5 years. Prior to San Mateo County, he worked in the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for 11 years, including as a manager (assistant regional administrator).
