Recent studies indicate the brain does not fully mature until the mid-20s. This course will provide an overview of how brain maturity affects decision-making, judgment and impulse-control in adolescent and young adult clients. We will discuss how developmental disorders such as Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism and Intellectual Disability affect reasoning and behavior. You will learn strategies for facilitating improved self-control in youth/ young adults.
