Live Webinar – Juvenile Probation Placement in a COVID-19 World
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be challenging to keep up
with new directives and information that are continuously being
released by the state, and specifically the Department of Social
Services. Therefore, it is imperative that probation staff are
informed and know where to get the information they need. This
3-hour webinar will assist in understanding the guidance by the
state, while still meeting the federal and state mandates for
foster care youth during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
COVID-19 has caused many probation departments to rethink, adapt
and quickly shift long standing practices in conjunction with
still ensuring the safety and well-being of youth in foster care.
In this course, CDSS letters and notices will be summarized
providing you what you need to know about topics such as contacts
and visits, resource family approval waivers, placement
preservation strategies, extended foster care, and court
proceedings that impact your practices of meeting the needs of
youth and families. Resources and supports available to foster
youth and families will also be discussed with a robust Q & A to
follow.
The target audience for this webinar is all those working in
juvenile placement.
This webinar will be conducted by Kathy Martinez, retired Deputy Chief Probation Officer from Santa Clara County Probation. Kathy had a 24-year career with probation also having worked for Santa Cruz and Alameda County Probation Departments prior to her time at Santa Clara County Probation.
