SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Governor Gavin Newsom has reappointed Lassen County Chief Probation Officer Jennifer Branning to the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC). Chief Branning has served on the Board since 2024 and will continue representing the probation profession as a member of the statewide body.

“I am honored to continue serving on the BSCC and grateful for the opportunity to represent California’s probation profession,” said Chief Branning. “The Board plays an important role and I am grateful I can help bring the expertise from the probation field to the decisions of the Board. I look forward to continuing this work.”

Chief Branning has served as Chief Probation Officer for Lassen County since 2013 and has dedicated her career to advancing effective community corrections, rehabilitation, and public safety. Throughout her tenure, she has been an active leader within CPOC, serving in numerous leadership roles, including CPOC President in 2023, and helping shape statewide probation policy and practice.

“Chief Branning is a respected leader whose knowledge, integrity, and collaborative approach make her an outstanding representative for probation on the BSCC,” said CPOC President, Chief Esa Ehmen-Krause said. “Her reappointment reflects the important role probation plays in California’s public safety system, and we appreciate her continued willingness to serve our and represent the profession statewide.”
