Marin County Probation Department DUI Check-in Connects Probationers with Support, Ensuring Compliance
From the County of Marin.
San Rafael, Calif. – June 30, 2025 – On June 26, 64 individuals on supervised probation checked in at Marin County’s first DUI Resource Check-in Site, a new initiative led by the Marin County Probation Department. Held at the Civic Center parking lot, the operation provided an alternative to home visits, enabling individuals to meet their probation requirements in a safe and neutral setting.
The event brought together supervision and support in a single setting. Probation staff partnered with the Sheriff’s Office, the Deputy District Attorney’s Office, and community-based service providers to ensure both accountability and access to resources.
Participants received DMV assistance from the Public Defender’s Office, job program information from the Multicultural Center of Marin, and recovery support from Alcoholics Anonymous. Food and outreach materials helped create a welcoming, accessible environment.
“This approach prioritizes safety and accountability while connecting individuals with the resources they need to move forward,” said Chief Probation Officer Marlon Washington. “Watching my team in action was a powerful reminder of their professionalism and commitment to both public safety and community care.”
Probation staff checked in 64 individuals and conducted oral swabs or breath tests on each of them. They confirmed 14 ignition interlock devices and carried out 16 vehicle searches. Officers made three arrests: one for a county parole violation, one for a new law violation, and one for a probation violation. They also issued three citations—two for driving without a license and one for knowingly getting a ride from an unlicensed driver.
