VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. —​ September 2, 2026 — Ventura County Juvenile Facilities recently hosted its 7th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Event, providing juvenile clients and their families with backpacks filled with essential school supplies ahead of the new school year.

The event brought together youth, families, community organizations, service providers, volunteers, and local leaders for an afternoon that included school supplies, raffles, meals, refreshments, and access to community resources.

The event also provided an opportunity for young people and their families to connect directly with community partners offering resources, guidance, and ongoing support throughout the year.

Community partners participating in the event included Coalition for Family, Imagine Global Empathy, Reel Guppy Outdoors, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Network of Care, Public Health Nurses, Goodwill Southern California, M.A.N.D.O. Youth Outreach, United Parents, Interface Children & Family Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters, One Step a la Vez, and Oxnard College’s Rising Scholars and EOPS Next Up programs.

Local food sponsors and supporters also helped make the event possible. Presto Pasta, Olive Garden, and Chick-fil-A Oxnard donated meals for participating families, while Domino’s provided a generous discount on pizza. Makenna Koffee also provided a monetary donation that helped cover the cost of pizza.

Representatives from the offices of Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, Supervisor Janice Parvin, Supervisor Vianey Lopez, and Senator Monique Limón also participated in the event, highlighting the community-wide commitment to programs that support youth development, strengthen families, and promote public safety.

The annual event reflects the importance of bringing community partners together to help local youth begin the school year prepared, supported, and connected to resources.
