Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth are disproportionately represented in the juvenile justice system. Approximately one in five youth in juvenile justice detention nationwide is LGBTQ+. What does it mean to serve these youth equitably and respectfully? How do probation staff create safe and affirming spaces for youth across the gender and sexuality spectrums?
