The Juvenile (in)Justice Behavioral Health (JJBH) lab, based in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is nationally recognized for conducting community-engaged research and implementation science that centers youth voice, lived experience, and equity to improve access to behavioral health services. The UCSF JJBH lab partners with youth, families, community-based organizations, and public systems to co-design, implement, and evaluate strategies that reduce youth substance use and recidivism, strengthen youth mental health and protective factors, and expand access to high-quality mental health and substance use services for youth, young adults, and families involved in juvenile legal and/or child welfare systems.
