Probation Spotlight: Welding Program Offers Opportunity for Justice-Involved Individuals

The San Bernardino County Probation day reporting centers offer justice-involved individuals many resources to help transition them back into the community in a positive way. These programs include evidence-based rehabilitation programs, education and workforce development.

The San Bernardino County Probation Department partners with First Institute Training & Management to host a welding program for justice-involved individuals to help them successfully transition back into our communities. This offers justice-involved individuals the opportunity to learn a high-demand trade, like welding, which can translate into a successful career.

Those who successfully complete the program receive their American Welding Society (AWS) certification, which validates them as welders and/or metal fabricators.

Having stable employment and housing are critical aspects for justice-involved individuals to transition back into our communities successfully and address their needs to help them get on a safe and healthy pathway.
