This course will provide a foundation for effective and strategic communications focused on communicating about pretrial systems and building support for pretrial improvement. The course will explain the deeply held assumptions people make about crime and the criminal legal system, then identify strategic framing principles to support more productive conversations about pretrial justice. It will help participants consider who they want to reach to increase their understanding of their pretrial system and provide examples of proactive communication activities to inform different audiences, including system stakeholders, community members, and the media.
