The CPOC Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the “Seconds in Command Leadership Academy,” scheduled for Spring 2026. This academy focuses on two main objectives: enhancing succession planning and ensuring that the second-in-command leaders fully understand their roles and responsibilities in driving the organization

Target Audience: 

 This academy is specifically designed for chiefs’ sworn direct report (i.e., Assistant/Deputy Chiefs).

Topics will include:
· Role of seconds in command
· Professional and personal considerations on becoming a chief
· Leading Change (vision, strategic thinking, environmental awareness)
· Leading People (generational differences, leveraging diversity, mentorship)
· Results Driven Approach (accountability, problem solving, technical credibility)
· Business Acumen (Financial, Human Capital and Technology Management)
· Building Coalition (partnering and building relationship, negotiating and political astuteness)
· Wellness          

Course Schedule: 

Week 1: March 9-12, 2026
Monday – 10:00am to 4:30pm
Tuesday & Wednesday- 8:30am to 4:30pm
Thursday – 8:30am to 12:30pm

Week 2: April 13-16, 2026
Mondays – 10:00am to 4:30pm
Tuesdays & Wednesdays- 8:30am to 4:30pm
Thursdays – 8:30am to 1:00pm

Lunch will be provided daily EXCEPT on Thursday, March 12th.

Cost: $1500 STC Tuition ($937.50 STC Reimbursable)
