From San Diego County Probation

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. – June 29, 2026 –  On May 28, 2026, the San Diego County Probation Department introduced the Mobile Probation Service Center (MPSC) to the County and to its residents.

With the assistance of a state-funded grant, the San Diego County Probation Department  purchased two mobile service centers that will allow the department to provide onsite direct services to all residents within the County of San Diego. This will help Probation in its mission to protect public safety by supporting not only our adult and youth clients, but all San Diegans in need, to restore their lives, families, and communities.

To the crowd in attendance, Chief Probation Officer Tamika Nelson announced, “Our clients and our community deserve the same level of excellence, and we intend to deliver those services where we can be the most impactful.” Starting June 2026, the MPSC will provide services such as screenings and linkage to substance use disorder, mental health, self-sufficiency services, education, employment, judicial, information, food, hygiene kits, and clothing for those who need it.

By collaborating with existing mobile services, bringing along other providers who do not have mobile services, and partnering with local community-based organizations, Probation aims to help San Diegans overcome barriers to accessing critical services due to lack of transportation or awareness of their availability. On-site assessments will be an essential part of ensuring evidence-based, appropriate services are delivered to our county residents.

“Our department is continuing to be bold by raising the bar in service, being kind and curious by proactively reaching out to those in our community who need assistance and doing the right thing whenever we are given the opportunity,” said Chief Nelson.
