SONOMA COUNTY, Calif., — The Sonoma County Probation Department is proud to be recognized for its commitment to community and service beyond the badge.

On March 19, 2026, the department was honored with a special plaque presented by two local Special Olympics athletes alongside the Northern California State Director, recognizing their outstanding fundraising efforts in 2025. Sonoma County Probation ranked 3rd in the entire region among law enforcement agencies, a testament to the dedication and generosity of their team.

This achievement reflects the combined impact of Probation’s participation in events like the annual Polar Plunge and Torch Run—two initiatives that continue to unite their department in support of an inspiring cause.

Earlier this month, on March 7, 2026, members of the department took part in the Sonoma County Polar Plunge at Doran Beach. Embracing the spirit of the event, the team donned shark costumes and plunged into the chilly waters to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Northern California.

Events like the Polar Plunge showcase the power of community, bringing people together for a cause that celebrates inclusion, determination, and the incredible achievements of Special Olympics athletes. Sonoma County Probation is honored to support this mission and proud of the role their department plays in making a difference.
