TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – April 9, 2026 – Two Tulare County Probation officers are being recognized for helping an individual who was experiencing a serious medical emergency.

The probation department said that deputy probation officers Vincent Rivera and Leidi Beltran were transporting two people who were under arrest.

While they were transporting the two people, one person experienced chest pain and suddenly lost consciousness.

The officers both contacted dispatch for emergency medical assistance and pulled over at the nearest safe location to provide aid.

The person stopped breathing, and that’s when Rivera immediately started CPR, while Beltran counted compressions.

After one round, the person regained consciousness but remained unable to speak.

Rivera then supported the person’s head to protect him from the hot ground. Both officers monitored his condition until emergency responders arrived.

Tulare County Probation Officers complete CPR training biannually, which proved critical in this situation. Their immediate response and training stabilized the client and ensured he received urgent medical care.

The department said that they commend both officers for demonstrating decisive life-saving action while remaining composed.
