March 12, 2026 — A crowd of job seekers gathered on Wednesday morning at the Yolo County Probation Gymnasium for the ‘Second Chance Career and Resource Fair.’

The job fair on March 11 was a collaborative effort between the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), YoloWorks!, and the Yolo County Probation Department. This was the first time the Yolo County Probation Department and Parole Office collaborated to host a job fair, which aimed to give “justice-impacted individuals” an opportunity to explore careers and access resources.

“This is the first time the Yolo County Probation Department and Parole have partnered to host a career fair, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout from both vendors and participants,” said Rachelle Gayton, chief probation officer.

“Our goal is to bring meaningful resources, opportunities, and services directly to our clients, and today’s event is an important step in that direction. We’re grateful for the strong community support and look forward to continuing efforts that help our clients build stable, successful futures.”

Gayton reports that over 100 people registered and 130 attended by the end of the day.

The success of the event was also driven by the dedication of probation staff, who assisted with transporting tables and chairs, setting up the event, and even providing transportation so clients could attend. Staff also helped create a welcoming environment through thoughtful event setup and decorations.

Events like this demonstrate the power of collaboration between probation, community partners, and employers in creating opportunities that support successful reentry, stronger communities, and long-term public safety.

Employers and organizations present at the job fair included: Accurate Personnel, All Ways Caring, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE), California Employment Department – Veteran Employment Services, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), City of Woodland, Creative Living Options, Department of Industrial Relations, Department of Industrial Relations-Division of Apprenticeship Standards, Department of Rehabilitation, Empower Yolo, Fourth and Hope, MTS Training Academy, Northern California Construction Training, Pacific States Petroleum, Patelco Credit Union, Preferred Talent Solutions, LLC, California Department of Developmental Services, Vision y Compromiso, Yolo County Public Defender’s Office – Record Mitigation and Community Reintegration Clinic and YoloWorks!
