Michael Farmer
Deputy Chief Michael Farmer leads the Human Resources and Professional Standards division for Fresno County Probation, driving strategic vision for recruitment, employee resources, training, community engagement, and evidence-based practices. Deputy Chief Farmer’s public service career spans over two decades, beginning in 1999 with Fresno County Behavioral Health Services before joining the Probation Department in 2008. Holding an M.S. in Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology, Deputy Chief Farmer seamlessly integrates therapeutic insights with robust public safety protocols. Deeply committed to staff development, he has also served as a POST-certified defensive tactics instructor since 2011 and a range master since 2014. Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Farmer has remained dedicated to the department’s core mission of accountability and opportunity. Through his collaborative leadership, he continues to foster a culture of professional excellence, staff empowerment, and positive community impact.
